Dexter turned two on Saturday and practically overnight he decided he wasn’t going to wear nappies anymore, any attempt to put nappies on him starts an argument and if I am successful it isn’t long before he takes it off. We’ve been relatively lucky, Dexter has never, even as a little baby liked being in a wet or soiled nappy and has been asking to be changed for quite a while but after a few attempts at TT we backed off as we felt he wasn’t really ready.
Recently I was sent a pack of Kleenex Cottonelle Flushable Fresh Wipes for Kids to review and it can’t have come at a better time. Since Dexter won’t keep his nappy on, I’ve decided to bite the bullet and start the process of toilet training, the jocks have come out and the nappies will be going into storage (eventually). I have to admit the whole process is a little scary.
Designed to make toilet training easier, Kleenex Cottonelle Flushable Wipes for Kids are super soft like a baby wipe, and totally flushable and they come in a handy kid friendly pop up tub that dispenses one wipe at a time so it’s super easy for Dexter to grab a wipe and attempt to clean up once he’s finished on the toilet.
Dexter seems fascinated with the whole toileting process and is constantly asking to go to the toilet only to grab some toilet paper, wipe and say ‘all done’ before hopping off to play, using the Kleenex wipes means that his sensitive little skin isn’t rubbed raw from all the wiping and Dexter seems to really enjoy popping the lid of the tub and pulling out the wipe to use.
The wipes are super versatile and I have to admit to grabbing the tub and chucking it in my nappy bag for when we’re out and about – especially if we’re visiting family or friends where he can be nappy free or in his jocks and I’ve used them more than once to wipe sticky or dirty little hands.
Thanks to the wonderful team at Kleenex Mums who have heaps of advice and information on toilet training and other parenting issues I have a great prize pack to give away.
For your chance to win a Kleenex Cottonelle Flushable Fresh Wipes for Kids Pack containing two tubs, four refill packs and a cute plush Kleenex puppy leave a comment here with your best tips or advice on toilet training.

Don’t rush them. These things take time
give yourself a decent amount of time, don’t expect it to be done within days!

I wish I had great advice on toilet training! Then I could follow it and it would be a breeze! I love making a big deal (clapping and cheering etc.) of them doing their business in the potty or toilet when first starting. It’s magic to watch their face light up because their so proud of their accomplishment and it encourages them to do it more.

The best tip I have is toilet train in the warmer months. Less clothing to get in the way & less clothing to launder.

I don’t have any toilet training tips yet – we are only just getting started. Well, maybe I do. Make a fuss about the toilet and let your little one come with you and tell them what you are doing e.g. sitting, weeing, wiping, flushing etc.
I swear by letting the child learn to see how they pee while playing outside with no nappy. Then introducing the potty. toilet
Worked for 3 kids so far will see with the last soon (although is bind so seeing himself pee might be an issue)

When toilet training my now four year old, he just wore undies everywhere. He seemed to learn quickly! Will be doing the same when we start toilet training the baby…

I think patience is the key – encourage your child, but don’t pressure them.
I waited for my son to give me the ques. He was nearly three but he just simply wasn’t ready until then and once he was ready, he was fully day and night trained in a couple of months. Dont push the issue is my best advice

Don’t freak out over accidents- they’re going to happen. The child will already feel bad about it, no need for the parent to add to their stress. Encourage using reward charts & try fun “targets” for boys such as ping pong balls, fruit loops & even food dye which will change colour when weed on.

Love the Mint PUL nappy cover from Bubblegum Distributions. Gorgeous colour
The treehouse construction set from Coccinella is absolutely amazing.
Gotta get my son the Agoo Leg Huggers Dino Sid from Ecocubs. Very cute.
Love the Bamboo Zoo Giraffe Shaker from Bamboo Babies. Sooo cute, and safe.
Love the Tasmanian Devil Puppet from Teddy Treasures
These flushable wipes are brilliant I use them all the time for my modern cloth nappies.
Let them run nude! Makes things so much easier.
Best tip. Don’t let your hubby take the child out in underwear unless they are committed to taking them to the toilet. Accidents do happen.
Commitment – all in, there’s no going back!
Put them into undies (real ones so they’ll feel every accident) and commit to spend AT LEAST a whole week at home where your only focus is your child. Be by their side so you can help them notice the signs, and everytime they have an accident you run them to the toilet. It makes a mess, but they figure it out by doing it over and over.
Let them socialise with other older kids that are already toilet trained – they will be wanting to do it themselves in no time!

Ping pong ball in the toilet. Get your kid to aim at it. Also don’t rush it they will let you know when they are ready.
My best toilet training tip is to do it on your child’s pace and be patient. I let my little girl run around in her undies all day. Hopefully, she learns soon!

My best advice: don’t force them into it. If you start too early, you will end up frustrated, tired and with no result achieved! They will be ready when they are ready!

I love Bambinex Swim Nappies at Bubblegum Distributions!
My advice would be , do not push them.
They will do it eventually in their own time.
There will be plenty of accidents but they will get it !
And let them run around in just undies (or without) for as long as possible.
Also constantly ask them if they need to do a wee or poo.

Follow their lead, let them tell you what they want and always give them options. I had the little potty and also the seat for the toilet and this helps as they feel they are in control.

Never make a fuss of any accidents. Just say next time on potty/toilet. If they see you give them a reaction to accidents they may decide to continue them.

My best tip/advice wait until your child is showing signs. My daughter started showing signs at 14 months, so we bought her a potty, and some books on going to the potty. We never sat her on the potty or got cranky with her. Took the rugs out of the room, and kept plenty of old cloth nappies to wipe up messes, let her go around bare bum when she started sitting on the potty with clothes, and she taught herself in winter. She still gets forgetful now a year on but mostly when she is excited or busy and doesnt want to take the time to stop.
never rush the child they will let you know.you can show them when you go .never go mad if they have an accident tell them they are good when they do go to the toilet .

I really like Kanoe Hammock over at Coccinella!
I visited Ecocub and my favourite item in their store is Baby Beehinds Bamboo Fitted Nappy.
At Teddy Treasures I love their Forest Rabbit Soft Toy!
While toilet training my little one, I refrain from using popular training pants, “Dry nights” and so on. While looking extremely comfortable, they slow the whole process of toilet training, preventing child from understanding what “being wet” means.
